It is important that correct insurance provision is in place before any booking is undertaken. An employer may have insurance that covers a locum whilst they work in the practice, however this should not be assumed. If insurance is provided by the employer often it will not cover you as a locum if the employer claims against you.
The most effective way of making sure you are fully covered is to make your own provision and find a specific professional insurance policy suitable to your needs.
Whilst Open is unable to endorse any specific supplier there are a wide range of policies readily available for comparison and once the most appropriate cover has been identified an annual policy is usually inexpensive.
